Essence of Sri Lanka

Day 01

Upon arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be transferred to Colombo where you will check into your hotel. Spend the remainder of day at leisure

Spend 02 nights in Colombo.
Spend the full day exploring Colombo. Lined with an intriguing mix of classical 18th and 19th century buildings and architecture from the Colonial period, the city has undergone several restoration and renovation projects in these “heritage” structures which have been converted to trendy shopping complexes, arcades and restaurants.

In the afternoon, go on the Colombo City Walk, which takes you through a myriad of buildings around the Pettah and Fort area that date back from 17th – 19th centuries which were erected mainly during the periods of Dutch and British rule. With the dawn of the post conflict times, we see the tremendous effort being put into this area to refurbish and bring these buildings to their hay-day wondrous state.
After breakfast, travel to Galle stopping en-route at Ahangama to see Sri Lanka’s iconic stilt fishermen.

Spend the remainder of the morning exploring the 17th century Dutch built Galle Fort, which is today a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afterwards, return to your hotel and spend the remainder of the evening at leisure by the beach.

Thereafter head towards the central highlands into tea country. En-route stop over at the Ravana Ella Falls. Spend the remainder of the day at leisure.

Spend 02 nights in Hatton.
After breakfast, go on the Tea Experience tour which is a must-do activity when staying here. The Resident Tea Planter will show you first hand the age-old tea making process. Which is a very artisanal one, unchanged for a century. The tour ends with a tasting of different grades of this great brew.

The sacred tooth relic of the Buddha was smuggled in to Sri Lanka from India by a princess in the 4th century AD and was initially kept in Anuradhapura and then moved across the country over time before being housed in Kandy. This sacred temple attracts thousands of white-clad pilgrims on a daily basis bearing lotus blossoms and frangipani for their offerings which are known as pujas.

Afterwards, attend a cultural dance show, which provides an insight into the array of dances and playing of drums linked to Sri Lanka’s ancient traditions with the participants dressed in their decorative costumes.
